Image from J. J. Grandville's satirical and visionary masterpiece Un Autre Monde (Another World), published in 1844. The extravagant subtitle appended to the main title gives some idea of the work's scope and ambition: "Transformations, Visions, Incarnations, Ascensions, Locomotions, Explorations, Peregrinations, Excursions, Vacations, Caprices, Cosmogonies, Reveries, Whimsies, Phantasmagorias, Apotheoses, Zoomorphoses, Lithomorphoses, Metamorphoses, Metempsychoses, and Other Things." A favourite of Walter Benjamin's among others. (Image source: Boston Public Library, via Internet Archive)
