Lauded by W. B Yeats in his day, the enigmatic and minimallistic work of English artist William T. Horton is largely unknown today. This piece is from his 1898 collection, A Book of Images, which marks his move further into symbolist, mystical art and features a number of profoundly empty, almost existentially threatening images that dealt with modern city themes.
